Our sundowner on “Skywalk” - enjoy the evening atmosphere on Phoenix-West
Just imagine it: You've finished work, and instead of the couch or cooking, something completely different awaits you. In a small, very personal group, you will head to new heights: climbing 99 steps up to the 26-meter-high Skywalk. Up there, we will treat you to a glass of wine, which you can enjoy in peace during the beautiful golden hour, while the evening light bathes the former ironworks and Dortmund's skyline in a thousand shades of yellow and red.
Bonus: You can take your wine glass home with you as a special souvenir of this unforgettable evening.
The tour starts at Phoenixplatz in Dortmund-Hörde with one clear goal: enjoying the magical evening atmosphere and the start of the sundowner from the Skywalk. You will walk along a well-paved path directly on top of the historic blast furnace gas pipeline. As your guide shares fascinating stories about this iconic lost place from times long past, you will catch unexpected and spectacular views of the historic blast furnace plant.
Did you know? The first blast furnace tapping here took place in 1854, and the last in 1998.
As a reward for the climb, a chilled glass of white wine awaits you. Savor the drink and take in the panoramic views of Dortmund's landmarks blending into the natural surroundings. The stunning twilight views and your exclusive souvenir wine glass to take home make this the perfect, relaxing end to your day.
Please note: Climbing the furnace itself is currently not possible. To ensure a safe descent while it is still light, we will head back down just before the final sunset.
