Our experience begins with an explanation of the Mayan ritual “Zumpul-ché”, or as we know it today, temazcal. Pre-Hispanic tradition similar to steam bath or wet sauna. Temazcal is a healing ceremony and is led by our shaman. In it we can purify the body, balance the mind and the spirit, obtaining a state of harmony, calm and well-being. Temazcal is made with volcanic stones, heat and medicinal plants, which through infusions in the water poured on the hot stones, generate the steam necessary for the ritual. During the ceremony we will connect with the center of the Earth and rebalance our energy. It is believed that temazcal represents the belly and as they leave the bath, in a symbolic sense, they are reborn, rejuvenated and revitalized, healing from the inside out. Sitting around the heat we learn the power and importance of silence, but also of words and songs and how to find harmony among ourselves. Once the ritual is over, a refreshing shower will revive us further and then we will enjoy a meal of fresh fruits and juices, generously provided by our mother nature.
