Absolutely delightful experience. I was met by the wonderful proprietor who was a very lovely and accommodating gentleman. He gives an explanation of the history and different kinds of hanko, the materials and pros and cons of each material, the colours for the cases and the patterns as well. I was struggling to make a choice (only because I’m indecisive) but his knowledge guided me and I am so happy with the result. It’s a very beautiful piece of Japanese cedar and I love the style of script for my name. It takes pride of place in my home. The quality of workmanship is very high and even the ink-pot is very beautiful too. It is such an elegant gift to myself and I highly recommend it.

What a cool experience! My girlfriend and I got our own personalized Hanko seals made of wood. It was very intimate as we were the only ones there so we got his full attention. He said to come back at 2pm for our finished seals and was right on time. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Japan! Will be stamping everything with my seal from now on!

Amazing experience. You learn about the different types of hanko, the characters and the history before moving onto choosing what your hanko will look like. You can tell the owner, Mitsuhiro, loves his craft. He was very through in his explanations of materials and not pushy at all. I was so excited to learn and have my own hanko made. Thank you!

This is a great experience for anyone who is interested in Japanese culture and art. We learned about the different seals, ink colors, and uses of hanko. The owner was very helpful and friendly and the shop was less than 5 minutes from the station. We're so excited to use our stamps!

Decent way to get interesting souvenirs. The shop is ~5 mins walk to the south of Kamakura station. They will get the hankos to you in 2 hours or mail them to your hotel in 1-2 days (we chose the latter and had no issues getting them at our hotel). The hanko were very nice. It came with nice velvet pouches and a nice carrying case thar the indvidual cases were in. The default options were good enough for us though we did purchase slightly more expensive cases. Overall the uniqueness of the souvenirs (most of our friends who went to Japan came back with the usual fans, chopstick and kitkat bars) and the nice packaging was worth the cost. My wife and 8 year old daughter felt the same way.
