What you can expect

  • Travel from San José toward Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast, following the scenic coastal route toward Quepos and Manuel Antonio Region. Along the way, pass through small communities and agricultural areas, including African palm plantations.

    Continue to Manuel Antonio National Park, a protected area well- known in Costa Rica for its tropical rainforest, beaches, wildlife and coastal scenery. The park is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including monkeys, sloths, iguanas and numerous bird species.

    After arriving at the park, walk to the entrance and explore the trails on a guided tour. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the park is known for opportunities to see monkeys, sloths, iguanas, birds and other wildlife.

    Spend time relaxing on one of the park's scenic beaches or continue along the available trails and viewpoints.

    If the route to Punta Catedral is open during your visit, you can enjoy scenic viewpoints overlooking the coastline and surrounding islands
