In Dante's time, astrology was a respected science studied in universities and considered a key to understanding the destiny of mankind. Perhaps it was no coincidence that the Supreme Poet chose Verona as his “refuge and hostel,” reading in the sky the sign that would make Cangrande della Scala the leader destined to restore peace to an Italy “hostel of sorrow.”
The verses of Paradise dedicated to the Lord of Verona reveal Dante's profound knowledge of astrology and Cangrande's birth chart, an invisible link between heaven and earth that the poet left imprinted in his writings.
Following in Dante's footsteps, the tour will take us to the symbolic places of his Verona: we will start from Castelvecchio, crossing Porta Borsari, Piazza dei Signori and the Scaliger Tombs, up to the Church of Sant'Elena, revealing astronomical, astrological and Pythagorean references hidden in the verses and history of the Scaliger city.
A journey through stars and poetry, discovering the secret link between Dante and the cosmos.
