DAY 1: CUSCO - KM 104 CHACHABAMBA - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 4:30 a.m. to travel to Ollantaytambo (1 hour and 30 minutes) to take the train to km 104 (1 hour and 15 minutes). We will arrive at 7:30 a.m. (subject to train availability) where we will enter through the Chachabamba checkpoint and begin the Inca Trail adventure with our private guide. We will walk for 30 minutes, and the first point we will visit will be CHACHABAMBA, an Inca ceremonial agricultural center.
We will continue the hike climbing the original Inca stairs for approximately 3 hours to the other archaeological site of WIÑAYWAYNA (2,650 m). We will cross lush forests filled with orchids and exotic birds in their natural habitat. We will arrive at WIÑAYWAYNA, the most beautiful attraction on the entire Inca Trail. We will explore its temples, ceremonial centers, and more.
Around 12 p.m., we will have a one-hour break for lunch. Then, we will continue our hike for an hour and a half until we reach Intipunko at approximately 2:00 p.m., where we will enter Machu Picchu as the Incas did in ancient times.
We will visit Machu Picchu for approximately two hours with our tour guide along Panoramic Circuit 1B, the upper trail, where we can take stunning panoramic photos and enjoy the Inca history, culture, and architecture—a dream come true after hiking the wonderful Inca Trail.
Finally, we will descend to Aguas Calientes by bus so you can have dinner on your own and then wait for the return train at 6:20 p.m. (schedule varies depending on train availability) that will take us to Ollantaytambo, where the tourist transport will be waiting for us to return to Cusco. The tour will end at approximately 10:00 PM (this may vary depending on train schedules).
