What you can expect

  • Begin your day with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco's historic center between 4:00 and 4:30 AM. Enjoy a scenic drive to the Andean village of Mollepata, where you'll stop for a hearty Andean breakfast around 6:30 AM.

    Continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike, where your guide gives a short briefing and hands out trekking poles. The hike to Humantay Lake takes about 2 hours at a moderate pace, through high mountain scenery with views of the snow capped Salkantay peak. Please note: the Humantay Lake entrance fee is not included in the tour price and must be paid locally by the traveler.

    At the lake, enjoy free time to take in the turquoise waters, take photos, and learn more from your guide before starting the descent about 1.5 hours back down to Soraypampa.

    From there, transfer back to Mollepata for a well-earned buffet lunch around 2:00 PM, before the drive back to Cusco, arriving at Plaza Regocijo between 4:30 and 5:30 PM.
