Experience one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the southern Andes on a magical hike through the 7 turquoise lakes of Ausangate. This full-day tour from Cusco takes you across mountains, glaciers, and high-Andean communities, offering stunning views and deep immersion in nature and Quechua culture.
Start the day early, heading to the village of Pacchanta at the base of the Ausangate glacier. The journey takes approximately 3.5 hours, passing through Andean villages and scenic landscapes. Enjoy a hearty local breakfast prepared by a native family: bread, coca tea, eggs, fruit, and more. Hiking poles and rain ponchos can be rented here if needed.
Begin the trek to the 7 lakes, surrounded by alpacas, snow-capped mountains, and crisp mountain air. The loop lasts 4 to 5 hours, with stops at each lake for photos, rest, and explanations from your guide. Along the way, see glaciers, natural springs, and stunning rock formations, while learning about Andean cosmology and sacred mountains (apus).
After the hike, return to the village for a homemade lunch made with local ingredients (soup, stew, coca or muña tea). Those who wish can enjoy a relaxing soak in Pacchanta’s natural hot springs, with an incredible view of the Ausangate glacier. (Entry not included – approx. S/20). Finally, board your private transport back to Cusco.
