Start your tour at the Calahorra Tower which is on the southern side of the bridge known as Puente Romano. The purpose of this fortified tower was to protect the bridge. The building has been used for various purposes in its historical past while it currently houses a museum.

It is believed to have been built on a site of a previous wooden bridge, and reconstructed by the Arabs in the 8th century. Latest conservation efforts led to the restoration of this bridge in 2008.
