Activity itinerary

Torre de la Calahorra

  • 10m
Begin your tour at the Calahorra Tower, a fortified gate standing at the southern end of the Roman Bridge. Originally constructed during the Islamic period and later remodeled in the 14th century, this tower played a crucial defensive role in protecting access to the city. Today, it houses a museum dedicated to the cultural coexistence of medieval Córdoba, offering insight into the Christian, Muslim, and Jewish communities that once thrived here.

Roman Bridge

  • 10m
Continue across the Puente Romano, an enduring symbol of Córdoba’s Roman heritage. Dating back to the 1st century BC, this bridge spans the Guadalquivir River and was later reconstructed during the Islamic era in the 8th century. As you walk across, take in panoramic views of the city skyline, including the towering bell tower of the Mosque-Cathedral. The bridge’s long history reflects the many civilizations that have shaped Córdoba.

Puerta del Puente

  • 10m
At the northern end of the bridge, pause at the Puerta del Puente, a Renaissance gateway commissioned in the 16th century. Designed to impress visitors entering the city, it stands as a monumental reminder of Córdoba’s importance during the Spanish Empire and serves as a symbolic entrance to the historic center.

Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos

  • 40m
  • Admission ticket included
Proceed to the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, a fortress-palace built in 1328 under King Alfonso XI. This royal residence played a pivotal role during the Reconquista and later served as one of the headquarters of the Spanish Inquisition. Within its walls, you will admire elegant courtyards, defensive towers, and beautifully landscaped gardens. The site is also historically significant as the meeting place of Christopher Columbus with the Catholic Monarchs before his voyage to the Americas.

Mosque-Cathedral Monumental Site of Córdoba

  • 40m
  • Admission ticket included
The highlight of the tour is the magnificent Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most extraordinary monuments in Europe. Originally constructed as a mosque in the 8th century under the Umayyad dynasty, it was later converted into a cathedral following the Christian reconquest. Inside, marvel at the forest of columns connected by striking double-tiered arches, the intricately decorated mihrab, and the harmonious blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements that reflect centuries of transformation.

Calleja de las Flores

  • 20m
Wander through the picturesque Calleja de las Flores, one of the most photographed streets in Cordoba. This narrow alleyway, adorned with vibrant flower pots and whitewashed walls, offers a quintessential Andalusian atmosphere. From here, enjoy a framed view of the Mosque-Cathedral’s bell tower rising above the rooftops-a perfect moment for photographs and reflection.

Judería de Córdoba

  • 20m
Continue into the historic Juderia de Cordoba, a maze of narrow streets that once formed the heart of the city’s Jewish community. This area preserves the spirit of medieval Córdoba, where Jewish scholars, merchants, and artisans contributed significantly to the city’s intellectual and cultural life.

Sinagoga de Cordoba

  • 20m
Visit the Cordoba Synagogue, one of the few remaining synagogues in Spain from the medieval period, built in the early 15th century. Despite its modest size, the interior features exquisite Mudejar decoration, including intricate stucco work and Hebrew inscriptions. The synagogue stands as a testament to the once-flourishing Jewish presence in Córdoba before their expulsion in 1492.

Statue of Maimonides

  • 10m
Conclude your tour near the statue of Maimonides, one of the most influential Jewish philosophers and physicians of the Middle Ages, who was born in Cordoba. This stop offers a meaningful reflection on the city’s intellectual legacy and its role as a center of learning during the medieval period.
