What you can expect

  • Insider knowledge about city and brewery culture

Join your friendly tour guide through Cologne's Old Town and let them show you the city and its brewery culture. Insider knowledge guaranteed! Of course, you will also be able to enjoy selected Kölsch beers!

We will embark together on a two-hour tour through the Old Town of Cologne and visit selected breweries. The tour starts at the city's most imposing building, Cologne Cathedral. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the center of the city and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Germany – guaranteed to be impressive! Then we explore the Old Town and head to the Alter Markt. The Old Town is characterized by a large number of historic breweries. Here, the famous Kölsch beer is served to thirsty guests in a relaxed atmosphere.
Let's mingle with the sociable and cheerful people of Cologne! The good vibes here don't just prevail during carnival. During this brewery tour, we gain an insight into the city's very unique culture. Between the stops at the breweries, our tour guides have all kinds of interesting historical and current information ready for you. They will also be happy to share their personal survival tips for Cologne with you!

The Kölsch and Brewhouse Tour answers the following questions, among others:

Why is Kölsch so much better than Altbier?
What do Köbes, Kranz, Pittermännchen and Halve Hahn mean?
Who is worse than the plague and Protestants?
How much does the cathedral cost and who pays for it all?

Of course, it is very important on this tour that we learn the correct drinking behavior when tasting different Kölsch varieties. He'll show you what it's all about! In addition to the brewery visits, we pass the Hennes am Dom, the Heinzelmännchenbrunnen, and one or two of the city's numerous “Büdchen” (small pubs). Use the tour as the start of an unforgettable evening with even more Kölsch and then visit other breweries recommended by our tour guide.

Depending on the mood and current events, we will visit three of the following breweries on the tour:

Gaffel am Dom – the oldest building at the foot of the cathedral with an atmospheric ambience
Brauhaus FRÜH – the largest brewery in the city
Brauhaus Sion – It is thanks to Hans Sion that Kölsch still exists at all!
Peters Brauhaus – one of the newest breweries in Cologne
Brauhaus “Sünner im Walfisch” – Sünner stands for Cologne tradition among beer connoisseurs
Brauhaus en d'r Salzgasse – the former “Zur Täsch” brewery
