Budweis, known in Czech as České Budějovice, is now famous primarily for its local beer, “Budweiser Budvar”. But for a long time now, it has not just been about the beer, but also about a beautiful historic city with many special features and unique characteristics. Budweis has a lot to offer. The historic center is a listed historic district. The city's most famous landmarks include the Black Tower, the central square marketplace with its many interesting and historic townhouses, and also the former Dominican monastery. Budweis is not just about beer, but also about pencils and one of the oldest railway lines in Europe.
