Activity itinerary

It is a chocolate workshop with a complete tasting of all cocoa by-products. From the beginning, the history of cocoa in America is briefly exposed, tasting fresh cocoa fruit, then seeds in different stages of processing, nibs, cocoa powder, cocoa butter and chocolate drinks. Then we will get to work with the most modern chocolate world, the attendees will taste the different concentrations of cocoa and then make their own different chocolates mixing them with all the local ingredients that we have available and using their own creativity! Finally, we will share the (eco-friendly) materials so that you can pack your own creations and take a perfect memory of the experience.

This was a very small operation and the place was difficult to find. The chocolatier was knowledgeable but I tried another class in San Jose and it was for half the price, more popular, much better organized and more enjoyable. I would not recommend this for $50-60 USD. It’s worth $20-30 at most.

We had a wonderful experience learning about chocolate, tasting and making our own chocolate bars. Very interactive and fun. I would recommend having one language, as 2 was a little distracting and we felt left out while others were speaking spanish.

It was a fun and informative session with Mauricio. He has a lot of knowledge about the history of cacao and chocolate making. It was a lot of fun tasting different chocolates and making my own chocolate bars.

Very nice experience! We made 2 chocolate bars each and left with them! We had some explanations on how chocolate is made and then we proceed on the making

The owner canceled at the very last minute sending out an email 2 hours before the scheduled time. That’s an inconvenience when travel time for me was over that. The initial reason provided on the phone was “they didn’t have enough supplies to host anymore people.” When I advised I booked through viator, the reasoning changed to “the business like others in the neighborhood didn’t have water supply so they couldn’t host the class.” When asked, no other business on the street or across the street had a similar experience. So it seemed like a lie. They also have yet to process a refund despite cancelling the class. So this seems like a scam. Save your money and go somewhere else

Had a great time learning about the cacao production and Costa Rica’s history. Lots of fun making our chocolate bars and creating our own special blend. Decorating our wrappers was just added fun! Definitely recommend!
