This volcanic route in Tenerife takes you through breathtaking landscapes full of history, lava, and nature. We'll start our excursion in the northwest of the island on a beautiful path that first leads us through fields and light forests.
Little by little, we'll dive into the fragrant Canarian pine forest and leisurely climb up to the Chinyero volcano, the volcano that experienced the last documented eruption in Tenerife in 1909.
The path leads through young, black lava fields, where the forces of nature can be seen in all their glory. Along the way, we'll discover fascinating volcanic formations that remind us of the island's recent geological past.
Then we'll head to the Arenas Negras volcano, whose massive lava flows almost destroyed the coastal town of Garachico in 1706. On the way back, we'll hike over dark volcanic soil and enjoy the contrast between the black earth, the green of the pine forest, and the blue of the sky.
Route Highlights:
Last volcanic eruption in Tenerife (Chinyero, 1909)
Impressive lava fields of the Black Sands (eruption of 1706)
Fascinating contrasts between lava, forest, and sky
A pleasant circular route for nature and volcano lovers
Equipment recommendations:
Hiking shoes: For a secure grip on the sometimes rocky, slippery ground
At least 1 1/2 liters of water: to cope with altitude differences of -/+250m.
Wind and rain protection: since the mountains are often in the fog and sudden showers are possible
Warm clothes
Hiking poles: Can be borrowed from the guide (as needed).
Please remember to bring weatherproof clothing, especially warm clothes and rain protection, as the climate can often be cool and humid. We also recommend bringing enough water to stay well-hydrated during the hike.
The tour will generally take place as planned – except in cases of force majeure, official closures by the island government, or cancellation by the guide. The guide also reserves the right to flexibly adapt the route or the course of the hike to the weather conditions and the physical condition of the participants to ensure everyone's safety and well-being.
Please note: If you don't show up without a valid reason, a refund is only possible in exceptional cases.
By completing the booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to the above conditions.
