Discover scuba diving in Chania with a small-group experience designed for complete beginners. No previous diving experience is needed, and with a maximum of just 2 participants per instructor, you'll receive plenty of personal attention throughout your first underwater adventure.
Your experience begins at our PADI Dive Centre in Almyrida, where you'll meet your instructor and try on your scuba equipment to make sure everything fits comfortably. Your instructor will also give you a clear, easy-to-follow briefing covering everything you need to know before your first dive.
We'll then travel together to the dive site. Our usual location is Koutalas, a sheltered bay and natural nursery for Mediterranean marine life. If weather conditions make Koutalas unsuitable, we'll choose another appropriate dive site for the day.
Once there, you'll enter gradually from the shore, take some time to get comfortable breathing through the regulator at the surface, and practise the essential scuba skills in shallow water before beginning the dive.
When you're ready, it's time to explore underwater alongside your instructor. Dive time depends on individual air consumption, but for first-time divers we generally expect around 35–45 minutes underwater. The dive is adapted to your comfort and ability, with a maximum depth of 12 metres.
Along the way, keep an eye out for Mediterranean marine life such as octopus, lionfish, moray eels, scorpionfish and colourful schools of fish. With no more than 2 participants per instructor, there's no pressure to keep up with a large group — you can take your time and enjoy discovering the underwater world.
We'll capture photos and videos throughout your dive at no extra cost. After the experience, we'll edit the footage and send it to you the same day, giving you a ready-to-share memory of your first scuba dive.
After diving, we'll return together to the dive centre in Almyrida, where your experience finishes.
