What you can expect
Discover the pleasures and history of the Champagne region, where French royalty and legendary chalk cellars come together in a refined country getaway from Paris. Aboard a comfortable minibus and in a small group (maxi 8), you will travel through the rolling landscapes of Champagne towards Reims, the historic capital of the region. Stroll through the charming streets of Reims and start with its famous cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where imposing Gothic architecture and centuries of coronation history make for a spectacular start to the day.
Next comes discovering the secrets of champagne in the historic chalk cellars of a champagne house. Follow your guide through cool, atmospheric galleries, quiet, almost mystical, where countless bottles rest and mature in near-perfect conditions. As you explore the cellars of renowned champagne producers, you'll learn about the history of its namesake, the method behind champagne's delicate bubbles, and the patient craftsmanship that transforms grapes into finesse. Along the way, you'll learn the basics that will enrich your tasting experience: how to recognize different styles, what “brut” really means, and how to differentiate between different types of bubbles: lively and mineral, round and toasty, vibrant and fruity.
In the afternoon, Champagne becomes a landscape as much as a wine. Stop at the Lighthouse of Verzenay for a panoramic viewpoint over the vineyard slopes of the Montagne de Reims, one of the most spectacular photo moments of the day and a beautiful way to see the region beyond the glass.
Finally, stop in the charming village of Hautvillers, deeply woven into Champagne legend. This picturesque village is famous for being the place where Dom Pérignon discovered the Champagne method.. Enjoy a gentle stroll through storybook streets, pause at peaceful viewpoints over the vines, and take in one last breath of countryside charm before returning to Paris.
