  • It is ESSENTIAL to wear appropriate trekking footwear for the activity.
  • Ages: From 10 to 55 years old. It's not exclusive, but those who are older should be experienced in trekking or hiking and in good physical condition to walk in the mountains, considering that this is a medium/high difficulty hike. Please always check with us first in these cases.
  • VERY IMPORTANT: The excursion will not be canceled due to bad weather. However, depending on the weather conditions during the hike, the guide will decide whether to continue to Laguna de los Tres or return via Laguna Capri.
  • EXCURSION NOT RECOMMENDED FOR: Pregnant women due to the level of difficulty. People with heart problems. People with overweight. People with knee problems. People with asthma, hypertension, or diabetes. Recently operated individuals.

The goal is to reach the famous Laguna de los Tres, the closest point to Mount Fitz Roy that hikers can access via a trail in the National Park.
This activity requires medium to high physical effort, ideal for travelers looking to explore trails through native forests and mountain rivers, with unique views of El Chaltén's glaciers and peaks.

Itinerary
The excursion begins at 6:00 AM when the minibus picks you up from your accommodation in El Calafate. The journey to El Chaltén takes approximately three hours, following a scenic stretch of National Route 40 through the vast Patagonian steppe, with stunning views of the southern Andes and the unmistakable silhouette of Mount Fitz Roy.

Upon arriving in El Chaltén, the adventure begins. The trail starts at the Eléctrico River Bridge, located just 14 kilometers from the town. Packed lunches are distributed, and the hike begins around 9:30 AM.

The first section of the trail (6.3 km, completed in about 1.5 hours) gradually ascends to the Piedras Blancas Viewpoint. From there, the trail descends slowly to the Meeting Point near the Poincenot Base Camp, where the group arrives around 11:30 AM.

Those who choose not to continue with the more demanding second section will join Group 2, led by one of the guides, to the stunning Laguna Capri—another must-see attraction in El Chaltén. There, the group has lunch before beginning the descent back to El Chaltén.

Group 1 continues through the Poincenot Base Camp area, crossing the Blanco River Bridge and ascending quickly. This section covers nearly 3 km with a 430-meter elevation gain, leading to the highlight of the trek: Laguna de los Tres. By 1:30 PM, the group reaches a moraine ridge, offering breathtaking views of the Fitz Roy massif and the Laguna and Glacier de los Tres below.

At the lagoon, you’ll have time to enjoy lunch with incredible views. After exploring and taking photos, Group 1 bids farewell to this magical spot and begins the descent back to El Chaltén.

Both groups reunite at the Meeting Point near the Poincenot Camp, and the return journey passes by Laguna Capri. Around 7:00 PM, the minibus departs for El Calafate, dropping passengers off at their accommodations between 9:00 and 10:00 PM.
