When you reach the falls, you'll be greeted by the mesmerizing sight of Gocta's twin cascades, plunging from the heights. With a height of 771 meters, this waterfall stands as one of the world's tallest and is an unforgettable testament to nature's grandeur.

Itinerary:
Join us on an exciting day trip to one of the tallest waterfalls in the world! The Gocta Falls is 771 meters (2,530 feet) tall and consists of two perennial drops that pour water into the Cocahuayco River. The trail that leads to Gocta is surrounded by an expansive forest and diverse region of vegetation that is unique to northern Peru.

Along the hike, you will be able to stop and breaks in areas with stunning views of the valley and gain perspective on how large the waterfall truly is. At the top of the hike, you will visit one of the two falls and Expedition Gocta face-to-face for an amazing once-in-a-lifetime Expedition! Seeing Gocta first-hand makes for a perfect day trip outside of Chachapoyas and gives you a grand perspective on the diversity and beauty of northern Peru.

We will leave from the office in the center of Chachapoyas at 9:00 AM and drive one hour to the small town of Cocachimba. When we arrive in Cocachimba, we will make a quick stop in a local restaurant to review the menu and place an order for your lunch later in the day. After everyone has placed their order, we will begin our hike to Gocta.

As we hike to Gocta, we will journey through heavily forested areas with unique vegetation and stop periodically to rest in clear areas with sweeping views of the surrounding valley. It’s a beautiful hike from start to finish! When we arrive at the base of one of the falls, you will have time to take pictures and enjoy the pure beauty of Gocta face-to-face. It is truly an Expedition that you will never forget!

After we visit the falls and Expedition them up close, we will hike down the mountain and return to the local restaurant in Cocachimba where we will relax, enjoy our traditional meals, and talk about the day. When everyone is done eating, we will drive back to Chachapoyas and arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 PM.
