HASSAN ll MOSQUE :
Is the largest Mosque in Morocco and the 3th Largest in the world, its Minaret is the world’tallest at 210 Metres (689 FT). Completed in 1993, it was designed by Michel Pinseau and built by Bouygues. The Minaret is 60 stories high topped by a laser, the light from which is directed towards Mecca. The Mosque stands on promontory looking out to the Atlantic Ocean, the sea bed being visible through the glass floor of the building’s hall. The Walls are of hand-crafted marble and the roof is retractable. A Maximum of 150,000 worshippers can gather together for prayer. 25,000 inside the Mosque hall and another 80,000 on the Mosque’s outside ground.
The Mosque is said to have cost around US$ 600 million, and remarkably was paid by for largely by public subscription
The Mosque is well worth a visit and has the added attraction of being one of the very few religious buildings open to non Muslims. It also provides a welcome breath of fresh, sea air away from the noise and pollution of the city.
To see the interior of the Mosque you have to take a guided tour. Visitors must be descently and respectfully dressed and once inside don’t forget to remove your shoes!
QUARTIER HABOUS (NEW MEDINA):
Quartier Habous or Nouvelle Medina is Morocco-lite , Traditional Medina, with neat rows of streets and shops, built by the FRENCH in 193, a Medina built to Western standards .if you want to do some shopping Habous is more peaceful than most Souks.
ROYAL PALACE:
“Closed to the public” is to the north of the district, while to the south is the old MAHKMA DE PACHA
Court and reception hall, which has more than 60 Rooms decorated with sculpted wooden ceiling, stucco- work wrought-iron railings and earthenware floor. It’s not always open to visitors.
BLVD LA LA CORNICHE: AIN DIAB & ANFA:
Lined with Beach clubs, upmarket Hotels, Restaurant, Bars and Clubs, the view is spoiled by abandoned pleasure grounds and swimming pools filled with construction rabbish, nevertheless, the beach remain extremely popular.
RICK’S CAFé CASABLANCA:
Is a restaurant, Bar and Café located in the city of Casablanca, Morocco, Opened March 1st, 2004, the place was designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie Classic CASABLANCA. Set in an old courtyard-style mansion built against the walls of the old Medina of Casablanca.
Rick’s Café Casablanca was developed by Kathy Kriger, a former American diplomat in Morocco.
The restaurant is housed in tradional Morrocan grand mansion with a central courtyard or a Riad built in 1930.
