MINIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 4
If there are fewer than 4 participants, the tour will not take place.
You will depart in a luxury minivan bound for the Carrara Quarries and, following the road that winds like a snake to the top of the mountain, you will pass over the famous Ponti di Vara, which, together with the striking tunnels carved into the rock, formed the “former Marble Railway.”
Departure is scheduled from Marina di Massa at the following meeting points: Via Casola parking lot and Partaccia Info-Point.
We will head straight to the heart of the marble quarries to visit the interior of an underground quarry that is still in operation. This is a shared guided tour lasting just under an hour in what is known as the “Marble Cathedral,” where the guide will explain the quarrying techniques, the machinery, and the history of this precious material.
Here, you can admire a replica of Michelangelo's “CREATION OF ADAM,” created by the international artist Ozmo, which stands majestically at the center of the gallery, covering 160 square meters (1,720 square feet).
Afterward, we will take a walk through the streets of the town of Colonnata, where a tasting of Lardo di Colonnata and other local products is planned.
Colonnata is the oldest town in the Carrara marble basins and is home to a unique local product, Lardo di Colonnata, which was the traditional lunch of the quarry workers.
The price includes 1 bottle of water; other beverages and wine are not included.
IMPORTANT: The languages available during the tour inside the quarry are Italian, English, French, German, and Russian.
Please note that your driver is NOT a tour guide.
