Full description
Set off from Calascio and enjoy an e-bike experience discovering one of the most fascinating and lesser-known routes in Abruzzo.
After a short stretch on a paved road, the route continues along old dirt tracks that go up a secluded valley in the heart of the Little Tibet of Abruzzo. Here, nature reigns supreme: high-altitude pastures, flocks, shepherds, and the silence of the mountains accompany every pedal stroke.
A stop at a mountain spring allows you to recharge your batteries before the final climb. Then, suddenly, the panorama opens up to the extraordinary vastness of Campo Imperatore: an immense plateau, where the gaze is lost among endless meadows, mountains, and skies that seem to have no boundaries. It's one of those places that leaves you breathless and makes you understand why it's known as the “Little Tibet of Abruzzo.”
The tour continues on to the famous Campo Imperatore Canyon, an environment shaped over the centuries by water and wind. Its rock walls and wild atmosphere offer one of the most surprising sceneries of the Gran Sasso.
If you wish, you can stop at Fonte Vetica to enjoy traditional Abruzzo arrosticini (lunch not included), before continuing your hike amid spectacular views.
Designed to favor dirt roads and minimize asphalt, this tour is ideal for those who want to experience an authentic adventure, cycling through some of the most iconic and unspoiled landscapes of the Apennines.
