Immerse yourself in the waters surrounding Nguthungulli Julian Rocks, Byron Bay. Home to more than 1000 marine species, including sharks, rays, loggerhead, green & hawksbill sea turtles and over 500 species of tropical and temperate fish. Join us in one of Australia's prettiest and oldest Aquatic Reserves! Come with us to explore the underwater beauty of NJR and embark on a discovery journey: during summer, Leopard Sharks and Mata Rays swim around peacefully; in winter, Grey Nurse Sharks and Humpback Whales aggregates in these waters. All year round, rays, sea turtles, and more than 500 species of fish can be found living at Nguthungulli Julian Rocks.
Want to become a citizen scientist? Join our Turtle School workshop! You will learn some of the ecology and biology of our local sea turtle species, how to identify them, and how to help protect them! Once in the water you can test your identification skills and practice responsible interaction while photographing our stunning sea turtles in one of Australia's most diverse and beautiful marine sanctuaries. Your participation, education, and photo-identification contributions directly support the conservation of these critically endangered animals.
