You will meet with the local producer at a honey shop located directly in the Bratislava city center, just a few steps from Opera House. All the mead and honey are from small family owned beekeeping and mead factory located in Dolna Krupa, close to city of Trnava, about 60 km far from Bratislava. The shopkeeper will guide you thru brief mead & honey tasting. You will taste 4 samples of fine local honey (Creamed honey, honey with bee pollen, honey with propolis, and honey with cinnamon). After the honey tasting, you will also taste two samples of Slovakian peculiarity Trnava Mead (alcoholic beverage about 10-14% of alcohol). Mead is an alcoholic beverage, which is very popular in Slovakia. This mead is made from selected types of Slovak flower honey. The pure honey taste and aroma is finely tuned with herbs and spices. Historically, it became the first mead in the world to win gold medals at both the Apimondia and Mazer Cup, the world's largest competitions. The Slovaks drinks it in both summer and winter. In summer cold to 12-16° and in winter heated to 55-60°.
