What you can expect

Dive into the history, architecture, and tasty food of Bucharest with a local guide on this tour that takes you from the heart of the city into the beautiful countryside. Taste traditional cuisine and rustic Romanian dishes along with local craft beers while admiring the city’s stunning architecture and learning all about its fascinating history.

You first stop is a turn-of-the-century townhouse where you’ll try an array of Romanian gustari (starters) like goat cheese, cured meats, spring onions, fresh-baked bread, and local craft beer as you soak up the atmosphere of this tucked-away locale.

Next, visit the Armenian district to admire eclectic and opulent architecture from centuries past and then cross into the old Jewish quarter to stop for the city’s most famous street-food: the covrigi (a pretzel-like treat).

From there, it’s time for a refreshing Romanian beer in an artsy, garden-like book shop, before hopping on a tram towards the Communist area of Bucharest and the famous Obor Market.

Before you do even more eating, you will stop for a drink of palinca (local brandy) to whet your appetite before tasting your way through stands piled high with cheeses and fresh local produce. Try a mici, a type of sausage served with mustard and paired with a cold beer, and wrap up the outing on a sweet note with a piping hot Wallachian doughnut.
