Home to over 2,500 animals, Sea Life offers a fascinating snapshot of the world’s oceans. SEA LIFE is also an internationally recognized shelter for beached or orphaned seals. They are looked after in the seal clinic and quarantine areas, where they are prepared for release back into the sea.
Learn what’s involved in nursing a vulnerable animal back to health and visit the seal academy. In the spacious outdoor area, be introduced to some super-silly Humboldt penguins, playful otters, and impressive sea lions.
Every year, seals wash ashore on the Belgian coast. These young puppies are sick, injured, exhausted, and very emaciated. Separated from their mother, these animals have a very small chance of survival. The SOS Rescue Team of SEA LIFE Blankenberge takes care of these young seals and takes care of them in their own seal sanctuary. After three to four months of intensive care, the seals are released again.
Witness feeding moments every day. Watch the otters at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the penguins at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM, and the seals at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
