A 4-mile (6.4-km) round trip takes you out through the stunning Black Canyon, with stops at a historic overlook and the enchanting Emerald Cave, river guaging station, and the hand tram over the river.

The journey starts at the idyllic Willow Beach, where you begin your tour and paddle out with your expert guide. View the towering walls of Black Canyon as they rise around you, framing the spectacular desert landscape and the serene waters of the river. You can spot bald eagles wheeling overhead, and bighorn sheep along the banks, as you make your way upstream.

Take the short nature walk to gaze down on the mighty river from a historic overlook, and then discover more breathtaking beauty at Emerald Cave—named for its green waters that glimmer like emeralds when the sun hits at just the right angle. After you've explored this magical cavern you will continue on to view the river guaging station, the hand tram that extends over the river and the cliffsideboard walk to the hand tram. After viewing these artifacts, it's time to start paddling back downstream to end your adventure at Willow Beach.
