The route starts in the port of Plentzia, one of the most iconic sailing spots on the Biscay coast. After casting off, we'll set sail on a leisurely cruise through the inland waters of Gorliz Bay, a sheltered and stunningly beautiful environment where the sea and land merge with the characteristic green of the Basque coast. From the sea, you'll get a privileged view of the beach and its natural surroundings, ideal for starting the experience in a relaxed way.
We'll continue the journey along the coast towards the coves of Castillito and the Aizkorrigan fort, small natural spots nestled between cliffs that can only be fully appreciated from the sea. These coves stand out for their crystal-clear waters and the contrast between the rock, the vegetation, and the Cantabrian Sea, offering a perfect setting for observing the coastline and taking photos.
During the sail, you'll see the Gorliz lighthouse, a key historical element for navigation in this area, as well as the old defensive cannons, vestiges of the strategic importance of this stretch of the coast. These elements add an interesting historical and cultural component to the experience.
The route continues offshore until you reach Armintza, which you can see from the sea. From this perspective, the port and the coastal town showcase their close relationship with the fishing tradition and the maritime character of the area, offering a different and unusual view for visitors.
Later, you'll be able to see the wind turbine located in the BIMEP (Biscay Marine Energy Platform) area, a pioneering facility dedicated to the research and development of renewable marine energies. This point of the tour lets you see firsthand Bizkaia's commitment to innovation and sustainability in the marine environment.
The journey continues to Billano Island, one of the most iconic natural landmarks on the coast. This rocky islet, located in front of the cape of the same name, impresses with its steep cliffs and its geological and marine richness. Whenever conditions allow, we'll take a leisurely sail around it to admire its shapes, the power of the sea, and the seabirds.
On the way back, the boat passes in front of Barrika, allowing you to admire its spectacular coastline and renowned geological richness from the sea, with flysch formations that show millions of years of Earth's history sculpted by the sea.
Throughout the entire route, the skipper will explain the places you visit, their history, geology, and interesting facts, turning the trip into a complete experience that combines nature, sea, knowledge, and exclusivity, ideal for discovering the coast of Bizkaia from a unique and different perspective.
