Begin your day with a visit to the Ata-Beyit Memorial Complex, a deeply important site in Kyrgyzstan’s modern history. See the memorials dedicated to the victims of Stalinist repressions and learn about the country’s tragic past. Visit two small museums and watch a short documentary film that explains the history of political repression in Kyrgyzstan.
After exploring Ata-Beyit, continue into the mountains of Chunkurchak Gorge, located just an hour from Bishkek. Surrounded by alpine meadows, pine forests, and views of the Ala-Too mountains, set off on a horseback ride with local guides.
After your ride, experience authentic nomadic hospitality as you are welcomed by local shepherds. Enjoy a traditional light Kyrgyz lunch of fresh bread, sour cream, and seasonal fruits. During the meal, have a chance to speak with the shepherds, learn about their lifestyle, and see their sheep and livestock up close.
In the afternoon, relax and enjoy the cool mountain air before heading back to Bishkek.
