Experience Big Bear like a local on a summer-ready combo of an easy scenic hike and a refreshing lake swim. Meet your guide near Mill Creek and Tulip, then follow in your own vehicle to the trailhead for a pine-forest hike to one of Big Bear’s lesser-known lake viewpoints.
The hike is about 2 miles round trip with roughly 300 feet of elevation gain, including a steeper first hill that gets your heart rate up—perfect before the cool-down. Along the way, enjoy peaceful forest scenery and viewpoints that many visitors miss, with time for photos at the top.
After the hike, follow your guide a short distance to the Big Bear Lake harbor area. Here you’ll spend about an hour swimming from the dock and unwinding on a boat set up for lounging. The harbor water is often warmer than the open middle of the lake, making it a comfortable spot to cool off after a hot-day hike.
You’re welcome to bring your own picnic lunch, beer, or cold drinks to enjoy afterward. If you request in advance, your guide can provide an ice chest to keep items chilled while you hike. Want an easy food plan? On request, your guide can also pick up to-go lunches from a nearby restaurant in the village (meal cost paid separately).
Wrap up your swim-and-lounge time feeling refreshed, then return to the original meeting point.
