Begin your tour at the Zumaglini Gardens, a green space dedicated to the memory of Antonio Maurizio Zumaglini, a physician, botanist, and philanthropist. Admire the trees planted in 1876, such as the large cedar and the imposing sequoias.
Continue to the Fons Vitae and then reach Via Italia, the shopping street known for its elegant 19th-century buildings and historic cafés. This leads to the Cathedral of Santo Stefano Martire, dedicated to the city's patron saint, and the Romanesque Baptistery, the symbol of Biella.
Admire the exterior of the Teatro Sociale Villani, before moving on to the base of the historic funicular that led from the lower town to the ancient upper town.
Next, visit Piazzo, a well-preserved medieval village considered one of the most beautiful in Italy. Walk along its cobbled streets and admire medieval-style buildings, porticoes, the Church of San Giacomo (the oldest in the city), and the exteriors of the Ferrero, Lamarmora, and Gromo Losa palaces, once the homes of wealthy local families and now home to temporary art exhibitions.
From the Piazzo, enjoy a panoramic view of the lower city, before returning to the Zumaglini Gardens.
