Embark on an exclusive day along the Basque coast, starting with a visit to BAYONNE, a historic town with medieval streets and a Gothic cathedral.
Continue with panoramic views of BIARRITZ lighthouse, rocher de la vierge & iconic Côte des Basques beach, where surfing was introduced by an American screenwriter.
We'll then move on to the neighboring village of BIDART, the perfect representation of the typical Basque village, with its church, pediment and town hall, giving your guide the opportunity to explain Basque social organization and the peculiarities of our churches. A captivating view of the coast will also delight lovers of wide open spaces!
The major stage at SAINT JEAN DE LUZ will be approached with a walk on a hill overlooking this magnificent bay and offering breathtaking views. If walking isn't for you, you'll have easy access to a viewpoint.
The tour of the town center includes the beach, pedestrian and shopping streets, the fishing port and sumptuous 17th- century shipowners' houses. Your guide will reveal many themes: whaling, wealthy shipowners, the era of privateers, the marriage of Louis XIV, Naploéon III's reorganization of the town, the development of tourism and Art Deco treasures.
We'll head for the border to enjoy the charm of our beautiful Spanish neighbor, FONTARRABIE. A medieval town rich in history, with fortifications, Charles V's castle, pedestrian streets and a fishermen's quarter with famous Pintxos (Basque tapas) bars.
The tour include a “food tour” to discover the region's gastronomic riches, including the famous Bayonne ham, ewe's milk cheese & Basque cake! This light meal is often enough for most guests, but if you'd prefer a full restaurant experience, I'd be happy to recommend and help you with a reservation.
