  • Please be aware the Cathedral of Pisa is an “operating” church, and it can be closed to visitors for any liturgical reason, even without warning (for the funeral of a Cardinal, for example).
  • Children under the age of 9 are not allowed to climb the leaning tower for safety reasons, but they can enjoy other parts of the tour.
  • There are 251 steps to climb the tower. There is no lift.
  • No big bags or backpacks. No Sleeveless shirts or shorts.
  • Please note, the off season is often used as an opportunity for restorations, often unannounced.
  • Individuals wearing sleeveless shirts and shorts or skirts above the knees are not allowed inside the Cathedral.
  • Please be advised that the Baptistery will be closed to visitors from the 20th of May to the 14th of June. Guides will do a tour of Camposanto in place of the Baptistery during this period.
  • We kindly request that you arrive at the designated meeting point 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  • Please be advised that it is not possible to join the tour after it has started.
