What you can expect

  • Explore the best way to see Canada’s capital city on foot on our Best of Ottawa Walking Tour. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience in Ottawa.

Your tour will begin with your local friendly guide meeting you at the Giant Spider sculpture named “Maman” in front of the National Gallery. You will be in awe of this stunning piece of art created by artist Louise Bourgeois, depicting a spider with a sac containing marble eggs.

From there you will begin making your way to ByWard Market, passing by the stunning Royal Mint and Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. You will love the ByWard Market, a historic and vibrant neighborhood known for its outdoor farmer's market, local artisan shops, restaurants, and nightlife scene. It also features several historic landmarks and cultural institutions, providing you a glimpse into the city's rich heritage and contemporary culture.

From there you will continue walking toward The Centennial Flame, passing by the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Laurier along the way. The Centennial Flame is a flame-shaped fountain commemorating the 100th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. It serves as a symbol of national unity and features a flame fueled by natural gas that is surrounded by a mosaic representing the country's provinces and territories. This historical and beautiful fountain is sure to impress.

For your last stop, you will board a relaxing Rideau Canal Cruise to enjoy famous views of the downtown city centre and discover the wonderful Rideau Canal. As you board the boat, your tour will come to a close and you and your guide will part ways.
