The starting point of our tour is at the Eberswalder Straße metro station. This is where the U2 became an elevated railway. It emerged from the ground shortly after Senefelder Platz. We take a close look at this stop, compare it with other stations, and discover the period around the turn of the century and the 1920s.
Next stops: the Alexanderplatz and Klosterstraße stations. Here, the focus is on the construction and expansion of the U2, as well as the importance of this mode of transport for the rapidly growing, booming Berlin at the turn of the century.
Finally, at Bülowstraße, we will focus on ourselves as users of the subway. Our possible views as passengers are usually limited to the car we are in. How do we perceive our surroundings? How does the special spatial situation affect our behavior? At this stop, the U-Bahn thus comes into focus as a special metropolitan space of experience.
