A place where time seems to have stood still.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, nestled between the six-lane Bismarckstraße and Otto-Suhr-Allee, lies an almost forgotten gem: the Ackerhaus, dating back to 1723, one of the oldest townhouses in Charlottenburg. When you step through its threshold, you leave behind the hustle and bustle of the city, the pressures of everyday life, and the fast pace of modern living—you enter another world.
Here, in this tranquil courtyard, time seems to pass more slowly. Old wooden beams, Baroque windows, handcrafted artifacts, and sculptures tell the story of centuries of human history. Since time immemorial, people have sought out places where the Muses dwell—those mythical beings who sprang forth from the spring of Hippocrene, where Pegasus struck the rock on Mount Helicon with his hoof. From this bubbling spring, inspiration flowed into the world. This farmhouse also carries something of this spirit: a place where music, art, and poetry seem to come into being all by themselves.
Today, the house is home to a music and art school, and everywhere you look, there are instruments that not only teach but also open up spaces of sound: violins, cellos, pianos, and drums. They give the place a living soul.
In small groups, we will guide you through the historic rooms, sharing anecdotes about the daily lives of the building's former residents and the transformation of the city. To top it all off, you'll experience a short live violin concert: Baroque melodies performed in a place where history comes to life.
The Ackerhaus is more than a building—it is a symbol of taking a moment to pause amid the hustle and bustle of the big city. A place where, for a moment, time seems to stand still. Neighbors and people from the neighborhood often stop by and tell me that they never imagined such a gem could be hidden here.
Afterwards, there will be time for relaxation and enjoyment: Stroll through the rooms, marvel at the works of art and the jewelry, or, if you wish, treat yourself to a piece of homemade cake (for an additional fee) or a glass of fine wine in the leafy inner courtyard in exchange for a donation.
Only for people who are looking for something special. For connoisseurs.
