What you can expect
A place where time seems to stand still.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the metropolis, between the six-lane Bismarckstraße and Otto-Suhr-Allee, lies an almost forgotten gem: the Ackerhaus from 1723, one of the oldest town houses in Charlottenburg. Those who cross its threshold leave behind the noise of the city, the pressures of everyday life, the fast pace of modern life — and enter another world.
Here, in this quiet courtyard, time seems to flow more slowly. Old wooden beams, baroque windows, handmade artifacts, and sculptures tell the story of centuries of human history. Since time immemorial, people have sought out places where the muses dwell — those mythical beings who sprang from the Hippocrene Fountain, where Pegasus touched the rock at Helicon with his hoof. Inspiration flowed into the world from this bubbling spring. This farmhouse also carries something of this spirit: a place where music, art, and poetry arise as if by themselves.
Today, the house is home to a music and art school — and everywhere there are instruments that not only teach, but also open up sound spaces: violins, cellos, pianos, and drums. They give the place a living soul.
In small groups, we guide you through the historic rooms with anecdotes, telling you about the everyday life of former residents and the transformation of the city. As a highlight, you will experience a short live violin concert: baroque sounds played in the very place where history comes alive.
The Ackerhaus is more than a building—it is a symbol of pause in the hustle and bustle of the big city. A place where time seems to stand still for a moment. Neighbors and people from the neighborhood often stop by and tell me that they never would have thought that such a gem was hidden here.
Afterwards, there is time for rest and enjoyment: stroll through the rooms, marvel at works of art and jewelry, or treat yourself—for an additional charge, if you wish—to a piece of homemade cake or a glass of fine wine in the green courtyard for a donation.
Only for people who are looking for something special. For connoisseurs.
