In the backstreets, you will find traditional buildings and small public baths still used by local residents, offering a glimpse into everyday life deeply rooted in hot spring traditions. Next, you will visit the dramatic “Jigoku” (hell) area, where steam billows up from the ground, creating a striking natural spectacle (an admission fee applies if you choose to enter). Along the way, you will stop by a local shopping street, where you may have the opportunity to sample specialties and light snacks prepared using hot spring steam, providing a taste of local food culture. Finally, the tour will take you to a spot with panoramic views over the entire hot spring town, where you can enjoy the unique scenery of Beppu.
