What you can expect

  • In addition to its architectural grandeur and its connection to the famous Grande Torino, the Basilica of Superga houses a lesser-known treasure of great historical value: the Royal Tombs of the House of Savoy. A solemn place, steeped in memories, that tells the story of a dynasty and, with it, that of an entire country.
    It is the final resting place of a total of 68 members of the House of Savoy, including kings, princes, duchesses and princesses. The most notable include:

    • Victor Amadeus II, the architect of the Basilica and the first King of Sardinia;
    • Charles Albert of Savoy, a central figure in the Italian Risorgimento and promoter of the Albertine Statute;
    • Victor Emmanuel I, King of the Kingdom of Sardinia.
