Located just five minutes from Tirta Empul Temple, Suradayu Temple is a peaceful hidden sanctuary where you can experience Balinese traditions away from the crowds.
Arrive at Genuine House:
Your experience begins at Genuine House, where you’ll be warmly welcomed into the home of a local Balinese family.
Before visiting the temple, you’ll learn how to create your own canang sari, Bali’s daily offering, while discovering the philosophy and meaning behind this beautiful tradition.
Walk to Suradayu Temple:
Once the Canang Making Session is finished, we’ll take a leisurely five-minute walk through the village toward Suradayu Temple, located just below our house.
Descend into the Hidden Valley:
From the temple entrance, we’ll descend around 1,000 steps into a secluded valley surrounded by rice terraces, tropical forest, and untouched countryside.
As you walk down, the sounds of traffic gradually disappear, replaced by birdsong, flowing water, rustling leaves, and the peaceful rhythm of nature.
Discover the Temple & Meditate:
Once we reach the temple at the bottom of the valley, your Balinese host will introduce you to Suradayu Temple, sharing its history, cultural significance, and spiritual meaning.
You’ll then enjoy a guided meditation surrounded by nature, allowing you to slow down, clear your mind, and prepare for the purification ritual.
Experience the Melukat Ritual:
After meditation, you’ll take part in the traditional melukat purification ritual at the temple’s sacred spring under the guidance of your Balinese host.
After the purification, you’ll change into dry clothing before continuing into the temple for a traditional Balinese prayer session. Your host will explain the significance of each step, and guests are welcome to respectfully observe or participate according to local customs.
Return to Genuine House:
Once the temple visit is complete, we’ll make our way back to Genuine House.
Back at the family home, you’ll enjoy freshly brewed Balinese coffee or tea and a selection of traditional jaje Bali.
This is a chance to reflect on the experience, ask questions about Balinese culture and spirituality, exchange stories, and enjoy genuine conversation with your Balinese host.
