Walk through Baku's UNESCO-listed Old City, stroll the Caspian seafront and ride the Funicular up to Highland Park, then finish with an optional tasting of local wines. This is an easy small-group walk led by a local guide who brings the city to life with stories, legends and secrets.
Begin in the Old City (Icherisheher), the walled medieval heart of Baku. Wander cobbled lanes and quiet courtyards, pass the ancient city walls and gates, and see the mysterious Maiden Tower, the city's most famous symbol, wrapped in legends. Along the way you'll spot historic caravanserais, old mosques and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, and hear the stories behind them. Pause for traditional baklava, a delicious first taste of local flavors.
Next, head to Baku Boulevard, the seaside promenade. Enjoy the fresh Caspian breeze, see Little Venice with its canals and the Carpet Museum, one of the largest in the world, shaped like a rolled carpet. It's a lively contrast to the historic streets.
Then ride the Baku funicular up to Highland Park, one of the best viewpoints in the city. From the top, take in sweeping views of the Caspian Sea, the Flame Towers and the whole skyline. Take your time for photos.
Conclude your journey with a tasting of Azerbaijani wines, including pomegranate and cherry wines. Wine tasting is included in the “Group Tour With Wine Tasting” option; guests of the other option can add it on site for 10 AZN per person.
