What you can expect
Discover the Hidden History of Ayutthaya by Bike with a Licensed Local Guide
Go beyond the famous landmarks and discover the hidden history of Ayutthaya on this unique bike tour led exclusively by Mr. Scotty, a licensed Thai tour guide and local history expert. Designed for curious travelers and history enthusiasts, this educational experience explores the ancient capital through its temples, archaeology, Buddhism, and multicultural heritage.
Unlike most tours, we intentionally avoid the crowded temples at the beginning of the journey. Instead, we visit quieter historical sites first, helping you understand how Ayutthaya developed before exploring its best-known monuments.
Your adventure begins at Scotty House, It is an easy 10-minute walk from Ayutthaya Railway Station. If you are staying in Ayutthaya, we can help arrange a local taxi from your hotel (approximately THB 120–150 per vehicle, depending on the location).
After collecting your bicycle, ride along peaceful back roads to Wat Pradu Songtham, where you will discover traces of the communities that existed before the founding of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Learn about Ayutthaya-period mural paintings, Phichai Songkhram (the ancient Siamese art of military strategy), the city's role as one of Asia's greatest international port cities, and Buddhist stories rarely explained at other temples.
Continue to Wat Kudidao, a royal temple showcasing the influence of Persian architecture on traditional Siamese design, reflecting Ayutthaya's multicultural past.
Next, visit Wat Maheyong, one of the oldest royal monasteries in Ayutthaya. Explore the remains of the king's guard quarters—believed to be the only surviving example—and admire its impressive sandstone Buddha statues.
The ride continues to the peaceful Wat Sika Samut, a hidden temple rarely visited by tourists, offering another fascinating glimpse into Ayutthaya's lesser-known heritage.
After returning to Scotty House, a short transfer brings you to Wat Ratchaburana in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Discover the story of its famous hidden crypt and the priceless royal treasures found inside while learning about the kingdom's beliefs, royal traditions, and artistic achievements.
The tour ends at Wat Ratchaburana, just a 5–10 minute walk from Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, making it easy to enjoy lunch or continue exploring the Historical Park at your own pace.
This tour has been personally researched and designed by Mr. Scotty and is exclusively led by him only. ensuring every guest enjoys his personal knowledge, interpretation, and storytelling.
If you are looking for more than a sightseeing tour, this experience offers a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and international influences that shaped one of Southeast Asia's greatest civilizations.
