Vilcashuamán, the main Inca archaeological complex that you can find in Ayacucho, was built by the Inca Pachacuteq after defeating the Chankas to demonstrate his power.

Likewise, it served as a main point on the route of the Qapaq Ñan (Inca Trail) and also as a temple of worship to the sun and a place from which to expand the Quechua language throughout the Tahuantinsuyo.

Itinerary
At 8:00 a.m., we will meet at the main square of Ayacucho to begin our bus trip in search of the imposing Puyas de Raimondi, which can reach up to four meters in height.

Then, we will explore the archaeological complex of Pumacocha, where we will see the architectural remains of a resting place for the Inca upper classes, with remarkable structures such as the tower, the sundial (Intihuatana) and remains of the palace.

After lunch on our own, we will explore the archaeological complex of Vilcashuamán, a prominent political city in the 15th century. We will discover its trapezoidal plaza, capable of holding 20,000 people, and the ancient Temple of the Sun, on which the church of San Juan Bautista was built in the 16th century.

After our immersion in Inca culture, we will return to Ayacucho, arriving in the city at 8:00 pm.
