What you can expect

  • Step into a peaceful traditional tatami room in Kyoto and discover the beauty of the Japanese tea ceremony.

This intimate cultural experience introduces you to the centuries-old art of matcha preparation, a ritual rooted in harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. Your knowledgeable host will explain the history and meaning behind each movement, helping you understand why the tea ceremony remains one of Japan’s most treasured traditions.

Begin by observing a graceful demonstration of the tea ritual. Then, under gentle guidance, prepare your own bowl of matcha using authentic tea ceremony tools. Learn how to whisk the tea properly and appreciate its flavor the traditional way.

Your experience also includes seasonal Japanese sweets selected to complement the matcha, allowing you to enjoy the balance of taste that is central to tea culture.

With a small group size, this experience offers a calm and personal atmosphere — perfect for first-time visitors to Japan.

Please note that kimono rental is not included in this experience. Guests are very welcome to attend wearing their own kimono if they wish.
