Get picked up from your hotel in Ashgabat or Ashgabat International Airport and drive to the Darvaza Gas Crater.

Before heading to Darvaza, drive to the “Altyn Asyr” Oriental Bazar (open on Wed, Thu, Sat, and Sun) – Jygyldyk, located 20km north of Ashgabat. Explore one of the world's largest open bazaars, filled with colorful rugs, jewelry, carpets, silk, national Turkmen costumes, and animals in other parts.

Alternatively, visit Gulistan Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in Ashgabat, and a must-visit for any traveler. Discover the ground floor of the bazaar, dedicated to fresh produce, such as fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and dairy products. Browse stalls selling spices, nuts, dried fruits, and other food items. Head to the second floor to find various shops selling clothing and souvenirs.

In the afternoon, drive to Darwaza burning Gas Crater (276km, 4 hr), known as “The Door to Hell.” The Darwaza area is rich in natural gas. In 1971, Soviet geologists drilled into a cavern filled with natural gas. When the ground beneath the rig collapsed, it left a large hole with a diameter of 70 meters. To prevent the release of poisonous gases, it was decided to ignite the gas. Geologists hoped the fire would burn out all the fuel in a few days, but it is still burning today. Along the way, cross the Karakum Desert and stop in the small desert village of Erbent. In the evening, enjoy the spectacular and fascinating view of the gas crater. Savor a BBQ dinner at the Gas Crater. After dinner, drive back to Ashgabat (276km, 4hr) for drop-off at the hotel.
