What you can expect
Head to Tokyo's Asakusa district and immerse yourself in its unique historic atmosphere. Admire the distinctive architecture on a guided tour while learning about the area's past. Admire sights including the Azumabashi Bridge, Kaminarimon Gate, and Senso-ji Temple, and enjoy a traditional lunch.
Begin at Azumabashi Bridge before making your way to the Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center. From the observation deck and take in views of Kaminarimon Gate, Nakamise Shopping Street, Sensoji Temple, and, on the other side, views of Tokyo Skytree and the Asahi Beer Headquarters.
Visit Kaminarimon (Thunder) Gate, the entrance to a Buddhist temple and Shinto shrine. Then, make your way to Nakamise Shopping Street. Check out some of the displays on the street that recount the history of Asakusa.
The Hozomon Gate will lead you to the Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest and one of its most significant. Next to the temple is a five-story pagoda that holds Buddha's ashes. Take part in centuries-old rituals at the temple and the Asakusa Shrine and receive a paper fortune.
After the walking tour, savor a traditional lunch. Listen to your guide explain the ingredients to you and how they are prepared as you sit in an evocative and authentic setting based on traditional architecture.
