The domestication of corn was done 8,000 years ago, it changed our history and then became part of our gastronomy basis, we definitely have to savor products made with the most relevant ingredient of all in Mayan culture, we could taste between: Tamalitos, Chuchitos, Dobladas, Pupusas, Tamales, Tortillas or Tostadas. Vegetarian and vegan options are available. Delight yourself with the exotic fruits of Guatemala, grown in the country’s fertile volcanic soil and ideal climate. When trying seasonal fruits we may include 2 or 3 out of a variaty like: Rambután, Chico, Anona, Paterna, Pitaya, Zapote, Aguacate or Local Banana. We could include: La Merced located just outside Iglesia de la Merced, San Francisco El Grande, Tanque de La Unió and others, where we generally taste traditional Atol (atol is a hot drink made of corn or seeds), Rellenitos (plantain flour with sweet beans sauce inside and fried), some more surprises.
