What makes our tour unique is its deep dive into the “somewhere” that created a man who claimed to be “from nowhere.” Andy Warhol's parents were Carpatho-Rusyn immigrants from what is now eastern Slovakia, and our tour offers an unparalleled opportunity to trace their incredible journey. We start in Miková, his parents' birthplace, where you'll feel the weight of history and stand on the very spot where his mother’s house once stood. This is more than a historical site; it’s a tangible link to the humble beginnings that fueled a global icon. Our tour also looks to the future of art in Medzilaborce, home to the Andy Warhol Museum. While currently under reconstruction, we'll see the promise of its grand reopening in spring 2026. Beyond Warhol, we explore the region's culture, hiking to the majestic statue of Count Laborec and visiting the solemn ruins of the Krasny Brod monastery, a powerful memorial to World War I. This tour lets you see beyond the art and into the soul of the artist.

Our adventure begins with the Havaj sign, a photo op so perfectly unexpected, you'll swear it's a piece of performance art. Get ready to strike a pose—you know, the one where you're pretending to be a super cool tourist in a completely random Slovak village. It's the only time you can legitimately tell your friends you went to "Hawaii" and have the pictures to (sort of) prove it. Snap a pic for the 'gram and let the likes roll in, all while knowing you're about to embark on a much more culturally significant journey. This is your chance to capture the start of a legendary tour...and probably the most confusing photo you'll ever take.

Miková

This small, humble village in northeastern Slovakia is a powerful and poignant stop on your tour, offering a glimpse into the Carpatho-Rusyn heritage that profoundly influenced the pop art icon. While Andy Warhol never had the opportunity to visit, his brother, John, did. A small, local museum dedicated to the Warhol family provides a treasure trove of information, The most moving part of your visit will be standing on the very spot where Julia's house once stood. Though the original wooden house is long gone, the space where it was located is a powerful reminder of the humble beginnings of a family that would go on to shape a global cultural phenomenon.

Our tour culminates in Medzilaborce, the home of the world's first museum dedicated to Andy Warhol. While the artist himself never set foot in Slovakia, this museum stands as a powerful testament to his Rusyn heritage and a source of immense pride for the local community. The Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art, a modern and striking building in the heart of the town, is undergoing a major transformation. Currently closed for a comprehensive reconstruction, the museum will be reborn in a new and exciting format. When it reopens in the spring of 2026, visitors will be welcomed into an interactive space designed to highlight every facet of Warhol's life and work. The new exhibition will showcase the museum's impressive collection, including iconic works like the Campbell's Soup Cans and portraits of famous personalities, alongside personal artifacts and a unique collection dedicated to his family's roots. The museum's visionary director aims to create a dynamic hub of pop art.

Habura

Monastyr Krásny Brod

Once one of Slovakia's most important Greek Catholic monasteries, this historic site was tragically caught in the crossfire of World War I. During the brutal fighting of 1915, the monastery was shelled and destroyed, a silent victim of the conflict between Russian and Austro-Hungarian forces.
