What you can expect
Take a beautiful stroll through the charming historic heart of Annapolis along narrow brick streets and in view of the picturesque harbor in this year of the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America!
We'll take in the view of the harbor, Severn River, and Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis's gateway to the world. We'll explore where the Treaty of Paris was signed (ending the Revolutionary War) and General Washington resigned his commission as Commander-in-Chief, thus becoming the “greatest man in the world” and the “American Cincinnatus.”
We'll admire the grand Maryland State House, the Georgian architecture of the great colonial mansions, and the Beaux Arts style of the U.S. Naval Academy. We'll hear fascinating stories about John Paul Jones, the naval hero of the Revolutionary War, interred in the beautiful Naval Academy Chapel Crypt.
We'll visit two institutes of higher learning that have shaped American culture: the United States Naval Academy (founded 1845) and St. John's College (founded 1696). Along the way will be many recommendations for dining, drinking, cafés, ice cream, art galleries, and more!
