Ruines Romanes de Pollentia (Pass by)
As we stand here, we are stepping back in time to the 1st century BC, when this site was the thriving Roman city of Pollentia. Founded after the Roman conquest of Mallorca, Pollentia was the most important city on the island for several centuries. Here, you can see the remnants of a bustling urban center, including the forum, the residential area, and the theater. These ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of the Romans who once walked these very streets, conducting trade, participating in public life, and enjoying the arts. The site is a remarkable testament to the island’s ancient history and its role within the vast Roman Empire.

As we approach these imposing stone walls, we're entering the heart of Alcudia's rich medieval past. Constructed in the 14th century under the orders of King James II of Mallorca, these walls were built to defend the town against pirate raids and other threats. Stretching nearly 1.5 kilometers, the walls once encircled the entire town, with 26 towers providing strategic viewpoints. Today, walking along these ancient fortifications, you can imagine the watchful guards of centuries past, protecting the town's inhabitants. The walls offer not only a glimpse into the defensive architecture of the time but also stunning views over the town and surrounding countryside.
Esglesia de Sant Jaume d'Alcudia (Pass by)
Standing before us is the Church of St. James, a beautiful example of Gothic architecture that has been at the heart of Alcudia’s spiritual life for centuries. Built in the 13th century, shortly after the Christian reconquest of Mallorca, the church was dedicated to St. James, the patron saint of Spain. Its sturdy stone walls and impressive bell tower reflect the church's dual role as both a place of worship and a refuge in times of attack. Inside, you'll find a serene interior adorned with religious art, including a striking altarpiece and statues of saints. The church is a living symbol of Alcudia’s enduring faith and history, still active as a place of worship and community gatherings today.
