We visit the home of Mahatma Gandhi, where he led the legendary Salt March of 1930. Built in 1917 along the banks of the Sabarmati River, Gandhiji lived here for 12 years. Learn about India’s Freedom movement and the non-violence philosophy by walking through these corridors. His living quarters and household artifacts all tell a story!

Next in our Ahmedabad city tour, we visit a step well built in 1555 which is an incredible feat of engineering. It was built by the Queen of Rana Veer Singh. There is a tragic story of the Queen associated with this well. She deftly got the well-constructed even after her husband was defeated in battle by the Sultan of Gujarat, Mohammad Begda.

Hutheesing Jain Temple is among the key places to visit in Ahmedabad. It was built during a severe famine to provide employment to hundreds of skilled artisans. There are as many as 52 shrines dedicated to the Tirthankaras.

Siddi Sayid mosque is a highlight of this Ahmedabad city tour. On display is the world renowned “Tree of Life” which is latticework done on semicircular arch-windows. This motif has become the unofficial symbol of Ahmedabad. The Mosque was built in 1572 by the Gujarat Sultanate in their final years of rule before losing to the Mughals.
