What you can expect

The National Museum of Ethiopia is a great place to start your visit because of the high quality and variety of its exhibits. The 3.5 million-year-old hominoid fossil of Lucy (or Dinkinesh, meaning “wonderful” in the indigenous tongue) from the Australopithecus Afarensis species is on display at the museum. Our ancestors were likely walking about 2.5 million years before previously thought, according to a reevaluation of human family trees prompted by the 1974 finding of Lucy's fossil. Additionally, the National Museum has a plethora of priceless relics from pre-Axumite times.

The next stop is at Giorgis Cathedral, also known as St. George's Cathedral. Find it near the northern terminus of Churchill Road. The cathedral was constructed in 1896 in the typical octagonal shape to honor Ethiopia's triumph against the Italians at the Battle of Adwa. It features the stained-glass windows of the Africa Hall, which were created by the famous Ethiopian artist Afewerk Tekle.

Visit Shiromeda Market, one of the largest marketplaces for traditional Ethiopian clothing, on your drive to Entoto. Onwards to the summit, where you can stop at the breathtaking Mount Entoto for a bird's-eye view over the city.

Last destination A visit to Tomoka Coffee is in order! This coffee is among the best in town. Final Stop
